The combination of federal actions, such as SNAP benefit cuts, and widespread corporate layoffs has created a crisis for women who overwhelmingly serve as primary household caregivers. Millions of families have experienced a direct threat to their food security, disproportionately impacting low-wage workers and single income households predominately headed by women. Simultaneously, job losses at large corporations erode family income and health benefits, forcing women to shoulder greater financial and emotional burdens while simultaneously managing heightened care demands for children, the sick, and the elderly. When women are forced to choose between meeting work requirements, searching for new jobs, and providing essential, unpaid care, their economic stability plummets, creating a ripple effect of instability across entire communities. The failure to support women's essential caregiving work leads directly to increased poverty, hunger, and societal distress.
